Turkish Trials
for the Nation’s Cup 2006
February 16th – 19th 2006
“Notice of Race”


1. The Organizing Authority.
The organizing authority will be Turkish Sailing Federation.

2. Venue.
The venue will be at Karşıyaka Izmir, Turkey.

3. The provisional program is:
(a) Race office opens from February 16th at 16.00.
(b) Registration will be on February 16th from 16.00 until 20.00 .
(c) Crew weighing will be 20.00 of February 16th until 21.00 of same day.
(d) Practice period will be on February 16th from 14.00 until 17.00 for competitors coming from Istanbul.
(e) The first briefing will be on February 17th at 8.15.
(f) The first meeting with the umpires will follow.
(g) Racing days will be from February 17th to 19th.
(h) The time of the first race each day will be announced one day before.

3.1 Unless excused by the organizing authority, attendance at the following is mandatory:
* The daily first briefing, for skippers.

4. Skippers eligibility.
(a) Nine skippers will be invited. Only skippers invited by the organizing authority will be eligible to enter this event.
(b) The designated skipper shall helm the yacht at all times while racing, except in an emergency.
(c) To remain eligible a skipper shall confirm acceptance of invitation in writing, (fax or e-mail is acceptable) to be received by the date specified on the letter of invitation.
(d) All competitors shall meet the eligibility requirements of RRS Section 2, Appendix 2.

5. Entries.
The skipper shall be entered on completion of registration, crew weighing and the payment of deposits.

6. Damage deposit
(a) The refundable entry bond of Euro 1.000 (€.1000.-) will be considered as initial damage deposit. This deposit is the maximum payable by the skipper as a result of any one incident.
(b) In the event that a deduction from the damage deposit is decided by the organizing authority it may require that the deposit be restored to its original amount before the skipper will be permitted to continue in the event.

7. Rules.
The following rules shall govern the event:
(a) The current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), including Appendix C.
(b) The notice of race, including amendments.
(c) The sailing instructions (available at registration) and any amendments.
(d) The rules for the handling of boats, which shall also apply to any practice sailing.

7.1 A Protest Committee will be appointed, approved by the national authority, in accordance with RRS Appendix N.

8. Boats and Sails.
(a) The event will be sailed in Beneteau 7.5 boats.
(b) Four boats will be provided.
(c) The following sails will be provided for each boat:Mainsail,Jib and Gennaker
(d) Boats will be allocated by draw as decided by the organizing authority.

9. Crew (including skipper).
(a) The number of crew (including the skipper) shall be four, for Women’s crew will be five. All registered crew shall sail all races.
(b) The maximum total crew weight, determined prior to racing shall be 380 kg., when wearing at least shorts and shirts.
(c) When a registered skipper is unable to continue in the event the organizing authority may authorize an original crew member to substitute.
(d) When a registered crew member is unable to continue in the event the organizing authority may authorize a substitute, a temporary substitute or other adjustment.

10. Event Format.
(a) Sailing Istructions will be handled after weighing.
(b) The organizing committee may vary the format, terminate or eliminate any round, when conditions do not permit the completion of the intended format.

11. Course.
(a) The course will be windward/leeward with starboard roundings, finishing downwind.
(b) The intended course area will be very close to pier of Karşıyaka Sailing Club.

12. Advertising.
As boats and equipment will be supplied by the organizing committee, Appendix 1, regulation 20.3.2 applies.

13. Prizes.
The winner will be raced at Dubai to the name of TSF.

14. Media, Images and Sound.
The organizing authority may require television personnel and equipment (or dummies) to be carried on board while racing and may require competitors to be available for interviews. The organizing authority shall have the right to use any images and sound recorded during the event free of any charge.

15. Disclaimer.
All those taking part in the event do so at their own risk. The Turkish Sailing Federation, The club and their associates and appointees, the Judges, the Umpires, all the sponsors and supporters accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience incurred, howsoever caused occurred to persons and things, both ashore and at sea, as consequence of participation in any way in the event covered by this Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.

16. Invitations.
Entries will only be accepted from invited skippers.

17. ISAF ID numbers of the skippers will be given at the registration.
